It rolls up very compact and stores in a bigger piece of luggage but is always available when I need it. I've used it on bus tours where bigger back packs wouldn't fit overhead or under the seats. I'm able to put two fleece pullovers (thin LL Bean ones), a compact point n shoot camera, maps and tour book, reading glasses, tissues, sunglasses, batteries, pen/paper, sunscreen, a compact umbrella, a bottle of water, a couple of snacks, and a bottle of Purell and Aleve in it with room to spare. I love the microfiber feel, too. I'm 5'3" and found no problem with the straps being too short. I needed something that left both hands free, and was easy to carry when we weren't using a stroller (like at the park). The shoulder style bag required too much negotiation to stay put when I needed to bend over to pick up or do something for my child. This is a great diaper bag for the following reasons: 1. Backpack style is an advantage for the reasons mentioned above. Also, because the weight is distributed over 2 shoulders, it's much more comfortable than any shoulder style diaper bag. 2. It's LIGHT - only 8 oz. My other bag weighed at least 3 lbs empty. That doesn't sound like much, until you also need to carry a 26 lb. squirming toddler. 3. Compared to the $150 diaper bags, which are gorgeous to look at, it's inexpensive at $20. Of course, it's not going to win you any fashion points, but that doesn't bother me.
